Happy Birthday

posted in: Uncategorized | 5

Kelly’s husband, James, here.

All things considered, this blog began on Kelly’s birthday. It wasn’t entirely a birthday present–I’d been bugging Kel about writing a series of posts for my blog for years and years. And eventually, My Zero Carb Life finally came to fruition.

Kelly fields a surprising number of inquiries–sometimes every week, sometimes every few days–about what she eats, how she was able to lose weight, and the long-term consequences of her decision.

Well here you go.

More soon.

    Kelly –
I have been there and seen the scales tip at 220!. . . What’s really sad is that I began losing weight by using the low carb/no carb solution and 19 pounds dropped easily – my sister-in-law (who has never given me a compliment) even said – “Wow – you have really lost the weight”. . . but society (not to blame others) have given us yeast rolls – breads – cereal samples in the mail – sugary this and that and have told us that we must eat on special occasions – I went from 174 to 197 again – then my husband and I began to “share” everything that we went out to eat – I asked (with much hesitation) for the bread to be excluded from my plate or the table – and again, I saw 180 -176 soon.
I am in that “slump” right now and gaining – but I know – with your help- I can do it and seeing this blog inspires me!
I’m so proud of you! I can tell you that carbs have been a poison for me with asthma – it’s contributed to some allergies that I never thought I would have as an adult – I just feel better and more energetic when I’m not weighed down with the carbs that breads, cookies, cake and sugary snacks and cereals can cause.
You are a great inspiration and I hope that you are in the midst of writing a book!!?
    Love you,

Thanks so much for sharing your story. It’s great to hear it again. I’ve only known bits and pieces and what a gift from James. Happy belated bday and thanks again for sharing of yourself so openly. Congrats on all of your accomplishments and blessings for many more happy, healthy years!

    Hi Kelly,
Just came upon your site this morning saw it on facebook, I have been doing low carb for a while now, weight is coming off slowly, now I see why, I think I try every sweet lowcarb dessert posted, and it is only slowing down the losing process, I am starting what you are doing to the best of my ability and I will let you know how it progresses, need to feel good on vacation at the end of June to July.

LJ, I can’t agree more. I thought I was doing the right thing, by making sugar-free zucchini cake, but after reading this blog, I realise these type of ‘treats’ are just slowing me down.
      What a revelation!
I have adrenal fatigue (for about 3.5 years), but only started treatment 16 months ago. I have lost weight, then gained it back, even though I have no-to-low carbs. So I will follow this blog with interest.
I also think that, having my husband home now, I am eating more to a timetable, rather than when hungry! There, I said it – no going backward. 🙂

Thanks for this. Great information and well presented. Sometimes it’s hard being the odd one at a gathering when everyone else is eating carbs.
